Here are this weeks weird laws. Enjoy!
South Carolina: It is illegal for dance halls to be within a quarter mile from a church.
Apparently, it is also illegal for dance halls to be open on Sundays in South Carolina. I wonder what kind of dancing goes on in South Carolina to necessitate the enactment of all these stringent dance laws.
Tennessee: It is illegal for any woman to call a man for a date.
So much for equality!
Colorado: It is illegal to mutilate, disfigure rocks in Colorado.
According to Colorado law, “it is
unlawful for any person to willfully mar, mutilate, deface, disfigure, or
injure beyond normal use any rocks, trees, shrubbery, wild
flowers, or other features of the natural environment in
recreation areas of the state.” Noted!
Delaware: It is illegal to play “R” rated movies at a drive-in theatres.
According to the law, “Whoever being the owner or operator of an outdoor motion picture theatre exhibits or permits to be exhibited any film not suitable for minors or harmful to minors and which film can be viewed by such minors not in attendance at the said outdoor motion picture theatre shall be guilty of a class A misdemeanor.”
Georgia: It is illegal to live on a boat for more than 30 days during the calendar year.
The law refers to boats as “live-aboards.” These “live-aboards” include monohulls, multihulls, houseboats, floating homes, and other floating structures that are used for human or animal habitation. Mono whats?? I’ve never even heard of these “live-aboards” so I doubt ill be breaking this law any time soon or maybe I will.
What do you think about these weird laws? Are there any weird laws that you find unusually strange?
